BRINGING MISSION HOME
- with Simon & Margie Gillham
It’s easy to build a ministry by finding models that we like and just copying them. As we do, we often inherit other people’s blindspots, and leave our own unexamined. Simon and Margie Gillham were involved in planting Maitland Evangelical Church before training church leaders in Namibia for 8 years. Simon is now the Head of the Department of Mission at Moore College and Margie is studying Pastoral Counselling. They will share how serving in Africa has helped them think more clearly about doing ministry in different contexts from ‘first principles’.
PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION FOR PEOPLE IN PASTORAL MINISTRY
- with Nicky Lock and Dave McDonald
This seminar will focus on the relevance and value of professional supervision (alongside the disciplines of mentoring and coaching) for people in pastoral ministry. Nicky Lock is a senior counsellor, professional supervisor and educator, with more than 25 years experience. She has developed and coordinates the post-graduate training program for clinical and pastoral supervision through St Marks Theological Centre and with the Moore College MA program. Nicky, together with Dave McDonald, will clarify what supervision is (compared with mentoring or coaching) and help us to understand how supervision can support and develop us in ministry, and help us to highlight and deal with blindspots.
- with Andrew Mitchell
How do we identify the risks that are associated
with church life and ministry?
Are we missing anything?
Are there laws we need to comply with?
How can we manage it all?
This seminar will give an overview of how to manage risk in church life.
